Water your lawn in the middle of the day?

Filed Under (Lawns) by Robin on 09-07-2008

Katie asked:

I am trying to find information about watering your lawn. I have found information about watering your lawn at night and such. But cannot find anything about how much water your need to water your lawn in the middle of the day and how much water is wasted.

The project that I am working on is trying to BAN watering your lawn in the middle of the day because it wastes water.

If you have any information about watering your lawn or any interesting facts please let me know.

How can I elimate brown spots on my lawn?

Filed Under (Lawns) by Robin on 03-07-2008

Leisa asked:

I’ve planted grass seed on my front lawn over 2 months ago and now there are areas of the lawn that have brown spots. Do I use more fertilizer on my lawn to elimate these brown areas? I water my lawn twice a day (live in hot New Mexico) at 15 minutes a piece. Once in the morning and the second time in the evening. Please help.

How can I get my lawn to grow?

Filed Under (Lawns) by Robin on 02-07-2008

Annie anne asked:

I live in a ground floor flat (appartment). I have a tiny back garden, with a very small lawn. I moved in about 4 years ago, when the flat was newly built, however there have been various buildings in this area for at least 200 years. When I moved in the lawn looked lovely, but over the first winter most of the grass died off. Since then, I have reseeded the worst patches, reseeded the whole lawn and laid new turf. I’ve also spent lots of time poking holes inthe lawn with a garden fork and filling these with sand to improve drainage, and have dug compost into the soil. Nothing seems to work, each time, all the grass has died. the plants growing in the garden (in the same soil) are doing well. Grass grows between the paving slabs next to the lawn. The neighbor’s lawns look fine. Lots of moss and clover grows on the lawn and there are loads of worms.
Any ideas? or shall I give up and put paving down?
I water it regularly during dry weather. Hosepipes are currently banned in this area but it’s so small it’s easy to do with a watering can.

How do I treat my lawn that was seeded and reseeded last year and was overrun with Crabgrass?

Filed Under (Lawns) by Robin on 01-07-2008

lawn
jsant201 asked:

My lawn was seeded late Spring last year. It appears that the seed may have had a crabgrass mix. I reseeded areas of my lawn in the early Fall and applied a winterizer fertilizer in late Fall. How do I handle this issue this upcoming season? I want to eliminate the crabgrass and develop a healthy lawn.
